A fence is something built like a low wall, often made of metal or wood, to keep something in or out. It differs from a wall, which has a base. Fences are usually supported by fence posts. Physically, a wall feels stronger than a fence.
The idea of a solid wall endures and that attracts people. They can be used in both curved and straight designs. A fence or wall can be built for decorative purposes as part of a landscape plan in a front yard, along, next to or in connection with an entrance to a residence or along or beside a driveway or corner of a front yard or at the junction of a driveway and a public sidewalk.
